Revelation Chapter 4

1After these things I observed, and there was an opened door in heaven, and the first voice I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.” 2And I immediately came to be in the power of the spirit, and there was a throne standing in heaven, and on the throne a person was sitting, 3resembling a jasper gemstone in appearance, and a carnelian one, and around the throne was an iridescent sheen like the appearance of emeralds, 4and around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw the twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and I saw golden crowns on their heads. 5And flashes of lightning and voices and thunderclaps went out from the throne, and there were seven lamps of fire burning in front of his throne, which are the seven spirits of God, 6and in front of the throne was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal, and in the proximity of the throne, and around the throne, were four living beings full of eyes at the front and at the back. 7Now the first living being was like a lion, and the second living being was like a calf, and the third living being had the face of a man, and the fourth living being was like a flying eagle. 8And as for the four living beings, each one had six wings; around and inside they were full of eyes, and they did not have a break day and night from saying,

“Holy, holy, holy,

Lord God the Almighty,

Who was,

And who is,

And who is to come.”

9And when the living beings give glory and honour and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives throughout the durations of the ages, 10the twenty-four elders fall before the one sitting on the throne, and worship him who lives throughout the durations of the ages, and they place their crowns before the throne and say,

11“You are worthy,

O Lord and holy God of ours,

To receive glory and honour and power,

Because you created everything,

And through your will they had existence

And were created.”
